What To Do In Bangkok Thailand

Bangkok Thailand is a city that never sleeps. Known as the 'Venice of the East', its many klongs (canals) weave through its bustling streets and out into the Chao Praya River. Long tail boat trips will give you a chance to see the 'real' Bangkok Thailand and admire its magnificent temples.

The Grand Palace with the temple of the Emerald Buddha and Wat Po with its breathtaking Reclining Buddha must be on the list for first-time visitors. Have a relaxing massage at Wat Po, the home of the most famous Thai massage school.

You can eat in the wonderful Bangkok restaurants or from the market stalls. Food is available anytime, anywhere in Bangkok Thailand. Thai food is so delicious and cheap if you don't like to cook. You can eat from one of the many market stalls or typical local restaurants.

Although Thai food is spicy, the flavors are so wonderful that you will soon become addicted to its many dishes and want to take some spices back home. There are so many things to choose from the menu you need never have to eat the same thing twice. You can even take a Thai cookery class, a long-lasting souvenir of your trip and a new skill for you to try out at home.

Bangkok is renowned for its vibrant, colorful nightlife. There is something for everyone. Famous favorite ' farang ' hangouts are Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza and Patpong, whilst the Sukhumvit area offers a wide range from simple beer bars to exclusive nightclubs for the well heeled. Take in a classical dance show or a romantic dinner cruise on a rice barge up the Chao Praya River.

Bangkok Thailand is one of the world's best shopping venues. The prices of Thai silks, handicrafts, woodwork and clothing are a fraction of the price in the west. Its huge, modern shopping malls proliferate the city, with the latest being Siam Paragon and its amazing basement aquarium. The Emporium and Gaysorn Plaza are the most upmarket malls, and Central World Plaza offers a wide range of shopping to suit all the family.

Bangkok 's markets are not to be missed. Especially the 'JJ' or Chatuchak weekend market at Chatuchak Park. Once you have seen the prices here you won't want to buy from anywhere else. Don't forget to bargain and remember to wear comfortable walking shoes!

If you are an early riser then the floating market, about 90 minutes drive from the city center is a great photo opportunity.

If you are interested in Thai silk then visit Jim Thompson's house – a fascinating traditional style Thai home and museum and learn the story of his mysterious disappearance.

Take the trouble to learn a few phrases in Thai and you'll find your trip more enjoyable, not to mention the added discounts you'll receive. Enroll in a course and before you know it you can 'phoot pasa Thai' ( speak Thai ) and wow the locals!

Whatever your preference you can be sure that Bangkok Thailand will have something for you; lots of activities, lots of fun, make it your next city to visit!
